Local roundup: WRV boys basketball beats Rivendell

SOUTH ROYALTON — The White River Valley boys basketball team got a double-double from Brayden Russ with 21 points and 11 rebounds, as well as 20 points from Wyatt Cadwell and 15 from Zander Clark in 67-60 win over Rivendell on Thursday night. 

The Raptors were led by Harry Molesworth's 22 points, with Jacoby Patterson adding 16.

Both teams play again Saturday. The Wildcats (9-5) are at Leland & Gray, and Rivendell (7-4) is at Twin Valley.

Hartford 51, Mount. St. Joseph 40

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Hurricanes were led by Brody Tyburski with 16 points as they improved to 12-2.

Hartford was down after a quarter, 18-13, but came back to go up by three at halftime and extended the lead to five after three quarters. In the fourth, Hartford hit nine free throws on 11 attempts to seal the win. Brady Olmstead had 11, Christian Hathorn nine and Brayden Trombly eight for the Hurricanes, who travel to Otter Valley on Monday.

Hanover 49, Plymouth 20

PLYMOUTH, N.H. — The Bears (1-11) led from start to finish to pick up their first win of the year and the first win under new coach Ben Davis.

Christian Blix had 16 points for Hanover, which will be at Sanborn on Monday.

Long Trail 75, Sharon 32

DORSET, Vt. — The one-loss Mountain Lions overwhelmed the Phoenix (2-10). Sharon is home against West Rutland on Monday.

THETFORD — The Panthers improved to 11-4 behind Addie Cadwell's 16 points, with Madi Mousley adding 11 and Kelsey Bogie 10.

The Olympians’ Maggi Ellsworth scored 15 and Braylee Phelps chipped in with 11.

Thetford is at Montpelier on Tuesday, while Oxbow (8-7) is home against Randolph on Saturday.

BENNINGTON, Vt. — The Wasps hung tough but fell to the VPA D-I Patriots. Woodstock (3-11) hosts White River Valley on Monday.

Ski jumpHanover’s Clapp leads Bears to home victory

HANOVER — Schuyler Clapp made his last jump of the evening his best, landing at 32.5 meters, the longest jump of any competitor Thursday at Oak Hill.

Clapp finished in first place individually, as did Hanover as a team with 385 points. Lebanon’s Angelo Goodwin finished second, and the Raiders, with just two jumpers, finished fifth out of nine teams with 255.5 points.

Jai Gregory took fourth place and Charlie Forbush fifth for the Bears. Mascoma’s lone jumper, Benton Smith, was seventh.
