WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Woodstock High girls hockey team scored twice in the third period to overcome a one-goal deficit and defeat rival Hartford, 4-3.

Kassidy Haley got the game winner at the 2:20 mark of the third to break the tie with an assist going to Lily Gubbins.

Hartford opened the scoring with five minutes to go in the first on a goal by Zoe Zanleoni. But Woodstock got two quick ones — Isabel Konijnenberg at four minutes and Grace Laperle with about a minute left in the first — to take a 2-1 lead.

The home team went ahead on goals by Emma Bazin and Sophie Trombley to lead 3-2 after two before Laperle got her second goal to even things up again. Hartford out-shot Woodstock, 21-15, with Nella Bowen of Hartford and Meridian Bremel of Woodstock in goal.

"Great game," Hartford coach Kylie Young said. "I was really impressed with our freshman goaltender, Nella Bowen as well as freshman forward Zoe Zanleoni.  We had some defensive breakdowns, but that’s to be expected with most of our youth back on defense. We’ve changed some things up, and we played great today, just couldn’t come away with the win."
