Local roundup: Hartford girls lacrosse remains perfect with rout of Colchester

COLCHESTER, Vt. — The dominant Hartford High girls lacrosse team etched another in the win column on Tuesday afternoon, beating host Colchester by a 17-2 final score.

Audrey Rupp had four goals and three assists for the Hurricanes (8-0), who built an 11-2 lead at halftime. Addison Cadwell also had four goals, with one assist. Madison Barwood was the third Canes player with four goals.

Alice Piper added three goals. Ella Perreault and Jillian Bushee had one goal each and Nella Bowen had two assists. Dakin Kovatch picked up three saves in the first half and Zoe Zanleoni had six in a shutout second half to anchor the Hartford defense. Coach Heather Hartford praised a 'standout' defensive performance by Gabby Gilbert.

"It was a great team effort with strong transition play through the midfield," Hartford added.

The Canes go for nine in a row when they visit St. Johnsbury on Tuesday.

Woodstock 12, Brattleboro 5

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. — A balanced offensive attack led the Wasps past the Colonels on Tuesday night.

Junior Claudia Shoemaker and senior Isabel Konijnenberg each scored three goals with one assist, and junior Lila Beckwith had a hat trick as well. First-year Fiona Piconi scored twice, junior Gracie Laperle had a goal and an assist and first-year Maeve Roylance rounded out Woodstock’s scoring. Senior Lily Gubbins added two assists.

Senior goalkeeper Audrey Emery made eight saves for the Wasps, who improved to 2-2. Woodstock hosts Rutland on Thursday.
