ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. — Isabel Konijnenberg’s seventh goal of the game in double overtime lifted the Woodstock High girls lacrosse team to a come-from-behind 15-14 win over St. Johnsbury in their VPA Division II quarterfinal game.

Claudia Shoemaker added four goals and an assist for No. 5 seed Woodstock (8-7), which rallied from a 10-6 halftime deficit. Lily Gubbins had two goals, Hannah Gubbins one, Fiona Piconi a goal and assist, Gracie Laperle two assists and Kassidy Haley one. Audrey Emery had 12 saves against No. 4 seed St. Johnsbury (10-7).

Woodstock will meet undefeated and top-seeded Hartford in the semifinals on the road on Tuesday.

Hartford 19, Harwood 3

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The undefeated Hurricanes (17-0) cruised to victory in the VPA Division II quarterfinals against the No. 8 seed Highlanders, led by Addison Cadwell’s seven goals and four assists.

Audrey Rupp had five goals and an assist for the top-seeded Hurricanes, and Madison Barwood added three goals with four assists. Ella Perreault, Braelyn Park, Alice Piper and Bella Boeri each had a goal. Dakin Kovatch (five saves) and Zoe Zanleoni (three) shared goaltending duties.

Hartford will play No. 5 seed Woodstock at home on Tuesday in the semifinals. The teams played once this season with Hartford winning 10-7 at home.

Hanover 15, Winnacunnet 11

NASHUA, N.H. — Maeve Lee’s six goals led the No. 1 seed Bears to a semifinal win against No. 4 seed Winnacunnet (12-4) at Stellos Stadium in the NHIAA Division II semifinals.

Hanover (14-1) will meet No. 3 seed Hollis-Brookline (14-4) in the championship game on Tuesday. The Cavaliers beat the No. 2 seed, Windham, 7-4.

Maggie Higgins had four goals for Hanover, which led 10-5 at halftime. Sadie Higgins, Lauren Eiler and Emilie Perras scored a goal each.

"It was an incredible game,” Hanover coach Sarah Martin said. “The team came out fighting hard from the very start. We controlled the draw, and the defense played beautifully. We are ready to beat Hollis-Brookline on Tuesday."

Hanover defeated Hollis-Brookline, 11-10, on May 19 at home.

Boys LacrosseHartford 13, Spaulding 3

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Joseph Barwood had four goals and two assists and Austin. St. Peter scored three goals to lead the undefeated and top-seeded Hurricanes past the No. 9 seed Crimson Tide in a VPA Division II quarterfinal game.

Ryan Spaulding scored twice and added an assist, and Logan Caffrey, Ezra Mock, Blaine Gour and Nick Daniels each had a goal against Spaulding (6-10).  Graham Thompson had seven saves for Hartford, which will play No. 4 seed Colchester (10-4) on Tuesday in the semifinals. The Lakers beat Rice in the quarterfinals, 12-6. Hartford beat Colchester twice this season: 10-3 at home on May 6 and 10-6 on the  road on May 10.  

Burr & Burton 14, Woodstock 10

MANCHESTER, Vt. — Griffin Piconi scored four goals for the No. 5 seed Wasps, Reid Allegretti had three and William Coates added two, but Woodstock came up short against the No. 4 seed Bulldogs in the VPA Division I quarterfinals.

Trey Jones had a goal and three assists for the Wasps and Sam Hambusch added one assist. Rowan Larmie made 16 saves.

Woodstock finished the season at 9-7 and will move on from seniors Coates, Jones and Willy Underwood.

BaseballThetford 5, Bellows Falls 4 (9 innings)

THETFORD — The No. 3 seed Panthers scratched out two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the No. 6 seed Terriers in a VPA Division III quarterfinal game.

Two walks and a base hit loaded the bases and after a pop up, Jacob Gilman walked to tie the game and Dempsey McGovern lined a single to right on an 0-2 pitch to bring Nolan Pepe home with the winning run.

Owen Goodrich had two hits and two RBIs for Thetford (11-6) and Nolan Pepe had an RBI with two runs scored. The Panthers used four pitchers against BF (9-9). Gilman threw two innings, Xander Oshoniyi — who doubled at the plate — went three innings with five strikeouts, Sam Parkman pitched an inning and JD Farrell threw three innings.

Thetford travels to Green Mountain on Tuesday to play the No. 2 seed Chieftains. The teams did not play each other in the regular season.

SoftballGilford 6, Newport 4

NEWPORT — The No. 3 seed Tigers (15-2) went down against the No. 6 seed Golden Eagles (10-6) in the NHIAA Division III quarterfinals.

Newport was undefeated until the final regular season game, a 4-2 loss to Conant.

Track and fieldSolberg wins high jump at N.H. Meet of Champions

DURHAM, N.H. — Hanover’s Ian Solberg won the high jump at the NHIAA Meet of Champions with a jump of 6 feet, 2 inches.

Lebanon’s Tanner Ames was second in the shot put (50 feet, 6 inches) and second in the discus (144 feet). Birhanu Harriman of the Raiders took second in the 3,200 meters (4:36.43), about 12 seconds behind Aidan Cox of Coe-Brown. Thomas Wolfe of Lebanon was sixth (4:45.24).

For the girls, Hanover’s Lea Perreard was second in the 1,600 (5:17.67), Mascoma’s Georga Kondi was second in the shot put (34 feet, 2 inches) and Newport’s Maddox Lovely was sixth in the 100 meter hurdles (16.46).

Others competing included Kyle Ashley of Newport (second in the javelin with 164 feet), James Chafouleas of Hanover (fourth in the javelin with 156 feet), Aidan Powell of Hanover (third in the 300 meter hurdles at 41.29) and Lucian Gleiser of Hanover (fourth in the 1,600 meters at 4:28.03).

The Hanover 4-by-400 relay team of Aidan Bradley, Powell, Jeff Vidou and Mack Levy finished second, and the Lebanon 4-by-800 relay team of Sean Miller, Angus Hall, Griffen Urnezis and Carson Jones was third.
