MERRIMACK, N.H. — A six-run sixth inning helped Lebanon Post 22 come all the way back from an early 6-0 deficit for an 8-7 win over Merrimack Post 98 in a New Hampshire American Legion District A junior baseball game at Merrimack High School on Tuesday evening.
Post 22 (3-3) got another strong effort on the mound from Nick Brill, who threw 4⅔ innings of three-hit relief to stop Merrimack (2-3). The offense then took over with a two-run fifth to break the shuout, followed by the big sixth-inning rally that ultimately decided the game.
“We were down, 6-0, in the fourth,” Lebanon coach Chauncey Wood noted. “They showed their resiliency today.”
Ben Achmoody led the way for Post 22 by going 3-for-3 with an RBI, two runs and three stolen bases. Jackson Cote drove in the eventual game-winning run with a sixth-inning hit. Bennett Hewett also had a hit, and Brill helped himself by walking and scoring twice.
Post 22 is off until hosting Nashua Post 3 on Tuesday at Lebanon High.
