ORFORD — Press. Trap. Turnover. Run. Win.

The Rivendell Academy boys basketball formula for victories has worked pretty well so far this winter. With top scorers Zach Gould and Kyle Carter leading the way, the Raptors moved to 12-0 on the season with a 67-42 win over Leland & Gray on Thursday night.

Using their trapping pressure to force turnovers and speed up the game, the Raptors roared out to a 26-8 lead through one quarter and 46-16 by halftime, ensuring everyone on the roster got meaningful minutes. Carter and Gould both had 10 points in the opening period; Gould had the entirety of his game-high 18 points by the halftime buzzer.

“We jumped out on them, ran them from the start,” Rivendell coach Ross Convertino said. “We were able to play everybody meaningful minutes. Everyone contributed. … It was obviously due to our press. We were able to turn them over and cause havoc.”

Carter finished with 16 points for Rivendell, Harry Molesworth scored his first eight points of the season and Sean Maddock contributed seven points. The Raptors, who own the top spot in the VPA Division IV standings, head to Bellows Falls on Tuesday.

BOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Marauders twice erased one-goal deficits but couldn’t come up with a third in a loss to the Colonials at Nashoba Valley Olypmia Arena.

Greta Schutz sent the Marauders into the second intermission tied at 2-2 with her first varsity goal, which came on Mackenzie Liu and Kaye Lindsay passes with 1.9 seconds left in the period. Rebekah Rudd went the distance in goal, making 20 saves.

Hanover dropped to 4-3-1 in NHIAA games and 4-5-1 overall. The Maruaders are 0-5-1 against teams from outside of New Hampshire this season, with all of the games decided by two goals or fewer.
