New London — Colby-Sawyer College hired Ken Pape as its women’s rugby coach on Friday, putting him in the role of guiding the club program to varsity status over the next year.

The Chargers are currently a five-time club conference champion in the New England Rugby Football Union, with a 75-48 record over the program’s history. Pape will take over a team that will move to varsity status with the fall campaign in 2018.

Pape joins the Chargers from Rutgers University, where he spent the past four years at the head coach. He also was an assistant coach for the USA Rugby Girls High School All-Americans and head coach of the Empire GU All-Stars.

Previously, Pape served four years (2010-14) as the set piece and attack coach at the Monmouth Rugby Club and held a two-year head coaching stint at Seton Hall University from 2005 to 2007.

Women’s College Golf

3 From Dartmouth Honored

Coral Springs, Fla. — Three Dartmouth golfers were named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars Team, the organization announced this week.

Rising senior Jessica Kittelberger and rising juniors Catharine Roddy and Julia Calbi were among the 952 women from all three divisions recognized.

All three were honored last year, with Kittelberger earning recognition for the third time.

Roddy became the first Big Green women’s golfer in 17 years to earn a spot on the All-Ivy League First Team by tying for third at the Ivy League Championship with a three-round total of 223 at the Orange Tree Golf Club in Orlando, Fla..

Kittelberger finished the year with a 79.2 stroke average over 15 rounds with a low round of 71 at the Babs Steffens Invitational. Calbi enjoyed a strong fall season with a solid 76.0 stroke average and finishing the Lady Blue Hen Invitational tied for ninth place with a 232 over the three rounds.

Touchline IV 10Springfield SC 1

Springfield, Vt. — Nick Moses scored five goals as Touchline IV (1-1) earned its first New Hampshire Soccer Conference win of the season.

Nico Mayo-Pushee had three goals and an assist for Touchline, while Liam Collins scored twice and Bauti Gallino dished out three assists. Christo Dragnev also assisted.

Goalie Anthony Stoffel made five saves for Touchline, which visits Peterborough tonight.

Hartford Jrs. 3Leb. Top Stitch 2

Plainfield — Hartford Juniors edged Lebanon Top Stitch Embroidery in an NHSC match.

Tyler St. Martin had both goals for Topstitch (1-3), which hosts Claremont V on Sunday.

CRFC Claremont 2 Lebanon Central Supply 1

Plainfield — CRFC Claremont defeated Lebanon Central Supply (3-1) to hand the hosts their first loss of the NHSC season.

Claremont led 2-0 at the half on goals by Parker Moore and Drew Grenier before Nate Chickering volleyed home a Jon Schafer cross to cut the deficit midway through the second half.

Central Supply will host Touchline IV on Wednesday.

Nighthawks Rained Out

Holyoke, Mass. — The Upper Valley Nighthawks’ scheduled game against the Valley Blue Sox was called off because of rainy conditions. No make-up date has been set.

The Nighthawks return to action at 6:30 p.m. tonight, when the Newport Gulls come to Maxfield Sports Complex.
