Mascoma boys win meet in Hopkinton
With four runners finishing in the top ten, the Mascoma boys took first among 10 teams at a 5K cross country meet at Hopkinton High School on Wednesday.
The Royals’ Gunner Currier was second (17:06) behind race winner Elijah Bodanza of Hillsboro-Deering (16:51). Also scoring for Mascoma were Carl Russell (fourth,18:48), Brody Albanese (sixth, 19:15), Karson Rogers (eighth, 19:26) and Trevor Maheu (19:56), who was 11th in the field of 79.
“A very strong race for our boys, capping off a stretch of three meets in six days with a quality win,” said Mascoma coach Rick Currier. “Emma (Colburn) also had a very strong run in the girls race and continues to get stronger for states.”
Colburn was 20th in a field of 50 with a time of 26:34.
Boys team scores: Mascoma 31, Hopkinton 69, Gilford 120, Derryfield 126, Inter-Lakes 147, Belmont 166, Trinity 171, Winnisquam 173, Hillsboro-Deering 191, Newfound Regional 198.
