Girls Soccer

Hanover 2, Timberlane 1

Key players: Hanover — Reese Hamlin, Bumpsie Loughman, Cosi Torresani.

Highlights: Hanover came out strong with excellent ball movement and possessions, along with several scoring opportunities. Loughman scored on a great shot from the right side following a feed from Torresani in the 15th minute. Play subsequently slowed on a hot day with Timberlane finding its way through in the 29th minute. The second half saw back-and-forth action with several opportunities but no scoring. A feed from Loughman to Malia Pratt resulted in an over-the-goalkeeper shot and score in the 55th minute. Hanover controlled play down the stretch.

Highlights: Pelton recorded her fifth shutout in Stevens’ win. Ferland bagged a hat trick and Friesen recorded a brace, with Jillian Castaneda assisting a team-high two goals.

Boys Soccer

Hanover 1, Windham 0

Key players: Hanover — Roan Palm, Noah Winchester, Henry Cotter, Nate McFetridge.

Highlights: Palm scored his fourth goal in the past three games to power the Bears to their third-straight win, all by shutouts. Palm converted a centering pass from Winchester in the ninth minute and Hanover played strong team defense to earn the win. Cotter had five saves to earn his third straight shutout and fourth overall. McFetridge made a key tackle to help preserve the clean sheet.

Key players: Mascoma — Andrew Prince, Brayden Pierce.

Records: Mascoma 5-0-2; Inter-Lakes 0-5-0

Hartford 2, Fair Haven 1

Key players: Hartford — Tighe Hrabchak, Nolan Morlock.

Highlights: Hartford got out to another early lead on a goal by Hrabchak less than five minutes into the game. Hartford had several opportunities to extend the lead but couldn’t find the back of the net. The Hurricanes finally broke through for their second goal with four minutes left in the game by Morlock. Fair Haven scored with just over one minute left in the game to make the final score 2-1.

Field Hockey

Windsor 3, Brattleboro 1

Key players: Windsor — Audrey McFarland, Hannah Tenney, Mackenzie Kleefisch, Tatum Flanagan.

Highlights: Windsor’s Olivia Dube, Hannah Tenney and Kleefisch had goals. Kleefisch had one assist. Flanagan had three saves.

Records: Windsor 3-3-0; Brattleboro 1-5-0

Golf

Hanover wins in three-team match

Key players: Hanover — Andrew Cramer, Benny Ames.

Highlights: Hanover went 2-0 at its match on Monday. The Bears tallied a score of 200, beating Pinkerton’s 210 and Nashua South’s 226. Cramer and Ames both shot a 38, with Hayden Clapp (40), Joseph DeSimone (41) and JJ Bornstein (43) rounding out the quintet.

Hartford places third at Battenkill Cup

Key players: Hartford — Thomas Thorburn, Teelin Nowlan.

Highlights: The Hartford golf team finished in third at the Battenkill Cup hosted at Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester, Vt. Otter Valley finished first, followed by Rutland second and Burr & Burton’s fourth. Each player had a possible nine points available in this match-play tournament. Hartford’s player point totals were: Thorburn, 8.5; Nowlan, 7; Sam Grigsby, 4.5; Matt Tsouknakis, 2.5; Carter Williams, 0.5.

Volleyball

Mascenic 3, Mascoma 1

Key players: Mascenic

Highlights: Mascenic won the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-21, respectively. Mascoma won the third set, 25-15, before Mascenic took the match in the fourth set, 28-26.

Cross country

Oxbow runners finish strong
at Hartford meet

Girls 5K race winner was Oxbow junior Casey Wiedrick with a time of 22:55. Wiedrick took the lead early in the race and kept pushing, increasing her lead and finishing in a PR. Oxbow’s Miley Chen finished in 22nd with a time of 42:16.

Boys 5K race winner was Hartford’s Bennett Moreno in a smoking-fast time of 16:40. Oxbow’s Jake Danis was able to break into the top five, with a PR time of 18:44. Oxbow’s Ben Nelson finished in 15th with a time of 25:49.
