Hanover wins seven-team meet

Key players: Hanover — Schuyler Clapp, Jai Gregory, Charlie Forbush and Hayden Clapp swept the top four places, respectively. Reese Hamlin was 3rd among the girls. Sunapee — Once again, Celia Osborne led the girls. Lebanon — Helena Mielcarz finished 4th.

Upper Valley athletes
finish strong at UNH meet

DURHAM, N.H. — Hanover High’s Andrew Valentino won the 1,000 meters and the Bears 4x400 girls relay team also placed first at a New Hampshire Winter Track League meet on Sunday at the University of New Hampshire.

The relay team of Alice Bell, Maeve Bradley, Pippy Collins and Beatrice Swenson finished with a time of four minutes and 30 seconds while Valentino won with a time of two minutes and 44 seconds.

Also for Hanover, Bradley was second in the 55 meters, Ben Hourdequin sixth in the 1,000 meters and the boys 4x400 relay team of Lionel Ndong, Garrett Fournier, Valentino and Oscar Collins finished sixth. For Lebanon, Jenney Lutz was third in the 300 meters and Oscar Gulledge fifth in the 55 meters. Newport had a second place finish by Callie Dixon in the girls shot put with teammates Bryce Palmer fifth in the boys 1,000 meter and Maddox Lovely sixth in the girls 300 meters. Newport’s boys relay team of Palmer, Cayden Forand, Christian Forsythe and Michael Bohn were third. Gunner Currier of Mascoma was seventh in the 1,500 meters.
