Key players: Hartford — Austin St. Peter.
Highlights: St. Peter rushed for 141 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns to help lead Hartford to a VPA Division I shutout victory over Mount Anthony.

Woodstock 54, U-32 14
Key players: Woodstock — Vince Petrone, Zane Peach.
Highlights: Woodstock remains unbeaten on the season following a rout of U-32. Petrone had 202 rushing yards and scored six total touchdowns for the Wasps, five on the ground and one on a pick-six.

Key players: Windsor — Tatum Flanagan Woodstock — Paige Stone.
Highlights: Woodstock goalie Stone came up big in the beginning of the first quarter with several saves. Windsor’s Hannah Tenney, Mackenzie Kleefisch and Kiersten Carvalho were putting pressure on the Woodstock defense. Woodstock’s Kamryn Jillson, Aleks Cirovic, Addison Tapley and Corrine White came up with several key stops in the defensive end. Overtime saw many breakaways from Betta Cirovic, Marley Olmstead and Grace Perrault, but Windsor’s defense held strong for the scoreless tie. Windsor’s Tatum Flanagan had six saves in the day, while Stone had eight saves for the Wasps.

Highlights: Rupp scored a hat trick for Windsor, with Kemari Wildgoose tacking on a goal to boot in the win. The Yellowjackets’ Rockwood made seven saves in between the sticks for the shutout.

Springfield 3, White River Valley 2 (OT)
Key players: White River Valley — Mackenzie Vesper, Cassie Armstrong, Rhianna Young, Julia Bowen, Macy Allen, Imari Taylor (15 saves).
Highlights: This was the kind of competitive and sporting match that every player wants to play and every fan wants to watch. The Wildcats took the 1-0 lead into halftime with a goal from Vesper off a Norah Harwood one-touch assist. Springfield came back with an answer after the half, but less than five minutes later, Vesper netted her second goal to bring the Wildcats back in front. After a good spell of possession by WRV, the Cosmos netted another one to send the game to OT.

Highlights: Woodward made 14 saves for Rivendell, but Springfield emerged victorious with a shutout win.

Key players: Brattleboro — Jackson Pals.
Highlights: Hartford generated multiple chances early but couldn’t find the back of the net. Pals scored two goals in a five-minute spell halfway through the first half to put the Bears up 2-0 at half. Pals finished his hat trick with 10 minutes left in the game on a corner kick.

Hanover finishes strong
at Connecticut meet
MANCHESTER, Conn. — The Hanover cross country teams had another strong showing on Saturday with the boys finishing second among 29 teams and the girls third against 21 teams in the large-school divisions of the Wickham Park Invitational 5K cross country meet.
Andrew Valentino led the boys by finishing in third place (16:16) in the field of 198 runners, coming in just 12 seconds behind the winner, Evan Bureau of Bethel (Conn.). For the girls, Megan Faris was fourth (19:12) among 158 runners, with Mikita Barry of Bedford winning in 18:42.
Other top finishers for the boys were Ryan Faris (eighth, 16:35), Ben Groves (16th, 16:54), Nandeesh Jain (19th, 16:51) and Ben Hourdequin (36th, 17:32). Also scoring for Hanover girls were Aria Deeb (14th, 19:55), Alice Bell (25th, 20:30), Millie Larrick (39th, 21:05) and Ari Hirschler (51st, 21:33).
Hanover coach Eric Picconi said the Bears did well against a number of teams they usually don’t see until the New England championships.
“It was a great day,” Picconi said. “The boys and the girls had decent starts but really made their mark on the second and third mile when the rest of the field began to struggle with the rolling climbs. Our teams know the hills and does not back down when faced with them.”
Thetford runners top finishers at Woodstock meet
WOODSTOCK — Thetford Academy’s Ava Hayden and Brady Sloop won the girls and boys 5,000-meter cross country races hosted by Woodstock Union High School at Knox Meadow.
Thetford boys won the team event while the Woodstock girls bested Thetford in Friday’s meet.
Hayden finished in 21:26, followed by Anya Young of White River Valley (23:42). Izzy Cellini of Woodstock was third (24:00) and her teammate, Pippa Shaw, finished fifth (25:00). Rounding out the top 10 in the field of 34 runners were Myra McNaughton of Woodstock (sixth), Ella Harvey of Thetford (seventh), Julia Bowen of White River Valley (eighth), Addison Richardson of Woodstock (ninth) and Aurora Hensel-Whalen of Woodstock (10th). Laethy Golden was the top girls finisher for Claremont Christian Academy (11th).
Sloop completed the boys race with 33 runners in 18:08. Nicholas Cellini of Woodstock was fourth (19:42), followed by Wendell Durham of Thetford (5th, 20:23), John Henry Andrews of Claremont Christian (seventh, 21:11), Own Courcey of Woodstock (eighth), Miguel Kutter-Walker of Thetford (ninth) and Connor Gaine of Thetford (10th).
Boys team scores: Thetford 33, Rutland 48, Woodstock 51; White River Valley and Claremont Christian, no score.
Girls team scores: Woodstock 22, Thetford 39.
