WINDSOR — The Windsor High girls basketball team may be onto something this season.
The Yellowjackets continued their exceptional start to the 2021-22 season on Friday with a 62-37 home victory over Fair Haven, taking Windsor to 6-0 on the campaign.
Windsor asserted itself early in this contest. The Yellowjackets led, 20-5, at the end of the first quarter. And that margin only grew wider as the game went on.
Fair Haven did outscore Windsor, 15-13, in the third quarter, but that only kept the Slaters within 14 points of the lead at 51-37. And Windsor shut out Fair Haven in the fourth quarter.
Reese Perry recorded another strong game for the Yellowjackets. The senior forward scored 23 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked two shots. Senior guard Peyton Richardson added 13 points, three assists and two steals. Senior guard Elliot Rupp scored 12 points, dished six assists and swiped four steals.
The Yellowjackets will look to keep it going on Monday when they host Springfield.
GIRLS HOCKEY Hanover 9, Beekmantown (N.Y.) 2 WEST LEBANON — Hanover (2-1-1) took command of the game early at Campion Rink and rode the momentum to a lopsided victory.
Hanover stormed to a 4-0 lead in the first period. HHS made it 5-0 in the second period before Beekmantown got on the board. The second period ended at 6-2 Hanover.
Junior forward Mackenzie Liu and sophomore forward Maeve Lee both scored two goals for Hanover to lead the way. Lee tacked on one assist. Freshman forwards Julia Lawe and Nora Bradley recorded a team-high two assists each. Senior forwards Kaye Lindsay and Janna Ruest and sophomore forward Lexi Feldman each finished with one goal and one assist.
Senior defender Lily Seelig and senior forward Gail Morse also scored goals for Hanover. Junior defender Kali McDonnell, freshman defenders Hannah Gardner and Lily Pratt, and freshman forward Rachel all finished with one assist.
Hanover is back in action on Tuesday on the road at St. Thomas.
