LEBANON — The seasonal low-barrier shelter for adults located on Mechanic Street will re-open Wednesday.

The shelter at 160 Mechanic Street in Lebanon operates on a first-come first-served basis with space for 13 people. It will be open every day from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. through the winter. A closing date for the season has not yet been determined, according to the City of Lebanon website.

As a low-barrier shelter, the facility is open to any adults who need a place to sleep, including people who struggle with addiction. Once the facility is full for the night, staff can also help people contact hotels or call 211, New Hampshire’s number to connect people with social services statewide.

Resources at the shelter include a hot dinner and to go breakfast, showers, hygiene supplies, internet access and other support from staff including help with finances, healthcare and finding housing.

The shelter was originally expected to open for the season in December, but this was delayed because of difficulty finding staff. The shelter is owned by the City of Lebanon and operated by the Upper Valley Haven.

The shelter can be reached at 802-478-1862.
