Lebanon to hold hearing on purchase of West Lebanon properties

LEBANON — The City Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday to consider the appropriation of $1.8 million to purchase three adjoining West Lebanon properties that city officials believe could complement the future revitalization of Main Street.

Last month the City Council voted unanimously to pursue purchase of three commercial lots — 30 Main St., 28 Main St., and 14 Main St. — owned by local real estate firm Chiplin Enterprises. City officials believe these combined properties could be used for a public need, such as a new West Lebanon fire station, or sold to private developers.

The council must now vote to appropriate the funds for the purchase. If approved, the $1.8 million for the purchase will be raised through the issuance of a bond or municipal notes.

The hearing will take place at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
