Judge Rules Against Croydon in Private School Tuition Dispute

Newport — A Superior Court judge has ruled against the Croydon School Board in a dispute with state officials over whether the board may use tax money to pay private-school tuition.

The judge, Brian Tucker, on Friday granted the New Hampshire Department of Education's request for a permanent injunction against the practice. Croydon, which currently sends four students — two of whom are the children of a sitting board member — to the private Newport Montessori School, still has the option to appeal to the state Supreme Court.
