WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A tractor trailer jumped the median on the Exit 1 off-ramp from Interstate 89 to Route 4 when the driver lost control of the vehicle on Tuesday morning.

After becoming airborne and colliding with a ditch, the truck came to rest blocking the on-ramp from Route 4 to northbound I-89, a news release from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles said.

Speed and wet conditions are believed to have contributed to the crash, which caused the truck’s load to shift, landing in the ditch.

The on-ramp at Exit 1 was closed for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene.

The tractor trailer suffered significant damage and was recovered by Sabil & Sons Towing. The Hartford Fire Department responded to handle fuel spillage, and Hartford Police assisted with traffic.

There were no injuries, according to Vermont DMV Commercial Vehicle Enforcement team.
