ORFORD — Rescuers carried an injured hiker off Mount Cube on Friday afternoon, according to a news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Fish and Game officers learned of the injured hiker, Shelly Vizena, 52, of North Haverhill, on Mount Cube in Orford at about 2:35 p.m. Friday.

Conservation officers, along with Orford police, Pemigewasset Valley and Upper Valley search and rescue teams, and firefighters from Orford, Hanover and Lyme responded to the scene.

Rescuers hiked approximately 1 mile to the Cross Rivendell Trail where Vizena was after slipping on wet rocks and injuring her leg. They carried Vizena off the mountain, arriving at the trailhead at 5:20 p.m.

Fish and Game encourages hikers to check weather forecasts before heading outside and warns that wet weather and fallen foliage can trails slippery and dangerous. More information about hiking safely is online at hikesafe.com.
