Police allege man responsible for string of Route 12 burglaries

HARTFORD — A 34-year old Hartland man was arrested and cited to appear in court in connection with a string of recent Route 12 burglaries, two weeks after Vermont State Police identified the man as a suspect in the burglaries and asked for the public’s help in locating him, authorities said on Tuesday.

Shawn Currier was arrested in Hartford on Monday under a warrant for multiple counts of burglary into occupied dwellings, grand larceny, petit larceny and unlawful mischief, Vermont State Police said. He was also cited for aggravated operating of a vehicle without owner’s consent and for multiple car thefts, according to police.

Currier was held on $10,000 bail and was scheduled appear in Windsor County Superior Court on Tuesday to be arraigned on charges, according to the news release.

Police said Currier also may have been involved in additional burglaries and thefts in the Windsor County area. Vermont State Police announced on March 15, following reports of burglaries beginning in January along Route 12 in Hartland, that following an investigation troopers from the Royalton barracks executed a search warrant on Currier’s residence in Hartland, where they discovered multiple items that were reported as stolen.
