Articles of note: Voters will be asked to appropriate $80,000 for the town’s volunteer fire department, $28,200 for the town’s community nurse program, $3,700 for the Special Needs Support Center of the Upper Valley and $55,207 for social service agencies.

Contested races: Jacob Holmes and Thomas Kennedy are facing off for a two-year seat on the Selectboard.

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve municipal general fund and highway fund operating budgets totaling $3.48 million, with $2.79 million to come from taxes. That is up from the $3.26 million total budget approved last year, of which $2.58 million came from taxes, according to previous reporting. On the school side, voters will be asked to approve a budget of $9.99 million. If approved, the budget is expected to result in education spending of $22,842 per equalized pupil, which is nearly 11% higher than that for the current year.

When, where and how to vote: Hartland is scheduled to hold its Town Meeting on March 7 at 9 a.m. at Damon Hall, 1 Quechee Road. The Hartland School District will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 at Damon Hall and online at https://meet.google.com/vbu-syow-iin. The election of town and school officers and other school articles will take place by Australian ballot from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. on March 7.
