BURLINGTON — A White River Junction woman was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay $75,000 in restitution following her guilty plea to defrauding her employer, a Tunbridge towing company, during the time she handled the company’s billing and payroll.

Chelsea Sunn, 32, who pleaded guilty to a single-count of wire fraud in July, was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Monday, according to a news release issued on Tuesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Vermont. Sunn potentially faced a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 but prosecutors recommended she not serve any prison time, according to a sentencing memorandum filed by Sunn’s attorney.

Sunn was employed as an office worker at Blakeman’s Towing and Recovery in Tunbridge, where her duties included handling billing and payroll.

During at least a 16-month period of her employment, Sunn — then known as Chelsea Roy — defrauded her employer by falsely inflating the hours she reportedly worked, which caused Blakeman’s to pay Sunn tens of thousands of dollars beyond her authorized compensation, the government said.
