HARTFORD — Hartford police raided a Wilder home last month and detained 14 people who had been living there, according to a news release from police. Three individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants, and a fourth person was charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine.
The July 21 raid at 158 Horseshoe Ave. followed a two-month investigation and occurred during execution of a search warrant, police said. Separately, six days earlier, on July 15, an eviction complaint for unpaid rent had been filed against the address’ listed tenant, Zamir Paley, according to court documents.
As of Tuesday, no charges had been filed against Paley; police said “charges are pending” against yet-to-be identified individuals who were detained during the operation.
Two of the detained individuals had been residing in the garage, police said.
Three of the 14 people detained were cited for providing false information to police and released.
“We were very surprised as to how many people were actually in the house,” Connie Kelly, patrol commander with Hartford Police, said on Tuesday. “We didn’t realize it was going to be quite that many.”
A quantity of crystal meth and heroin was also seized from the premises, police said.
