WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Upper Valley towns of Bradford and Bridgewater were among several communities throughout Vermont to be awarded grant funding to support new housing, infrastructure and community development projects, the governor’s office announced Monday.

The Bradford Community Development Corporation was awarded $34,262 to finish renovation plans and bring the historic Old Church Theater building into compliance with ADA and other life safety codes, according to a news release from the Office of Gov. Phil Scott.

The Bridgewater Area Community Foundation received $30,000 for a feasibility study and financing plan to renovate the Bridgewater Village School into the Bridgewater Community Center. The project would include a licensed child care center, the release states.

A total of nine communities received funding from a $2.5 million pot.
