North Hartland, Vt. — Frederick S. Holroyd, Jr., 47, died peacefully at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, surrounded by his immediate family after a three day bedside vigil watched over by his closest friends and extended family members.

He was born Dec. 9, 1969, in Claremont, N.H. a son of Frederick S. Holroyd, Sr. and Rose (Flanders) Holroyd. He moved around a lot in his childhood but spent many enjoyable hours at the Lyford family farm in Chelsea. Fred’s hard work ethic came early when he began working at the Crossroad’s farm in Post Mills at the age of 12. After graduating from Chelsea High School in 1989 he began working at Rich’s Department Store in West Lebanon, N.H. where he met Carrie Mason. They were married July 31, 1992, and they have made their home in North Hartland since 1993. Fred worked at Damar Chevy and then Miller Auto from 1992 until 1997 when he started at J.A.S Auto in Hartford where he has worked for the past 20 years.

Fred enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle and most of all being with his family including his nieces and nephews, Kolie, Kelsey, Kyle, Keri, Damian, Devon and Reagynne & Ethan.

He served in the Vermont Army National Guard 2nd Detachment, 26th MP Company from 1989 until 2000. He was a member of the Hartland Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Chelsea Volunteer Fire Department.

Fred was predeceased by his father and an infant sister, Mary Evelyn Holroyd.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Carrie and his children, Mariah and Mason Holroyd all of North Hartland; his mother, Rose Holroyd of North Hartland; sisters, Kymberly Howe and her husband, Matt and Carol Nutting and her husband, Jamie all of Post Mills; brother, Doug Holroyd of Live Oak, Fla.; brother-in-law, Marc Mason and his wife, Kathy of White River Jct.; sister-in-law, Sherrie Peabody also of White River Jct., Vt.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 11 a.m.
