Canaan, N.H. — Frank J. Smith, 78, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, in his home surrounded by loving family and friends.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 17, 1939, to Florence (McCaffery) and Frank Smith (deceased). He was married to Lora Kent Smith from New York.

Frank worked in home improvement in Brooklyn and was a steel worker on the World Trade Center in New York City. In the late 1960’s Frank moved to Canaan where he was a roofer and then worked at Dartmouth College as an offset printer for over 20 years. He met Lora in Canaan and they were married in 1973.

Frank and Lora built their log cabin home from logs on their property in 1973.

Frank enjoyed small farming with Lora – he raised Herefords and Lora raised sheep for wool and lamb. Frank spent time restoring antique farm tractors.

Frank loved spending time with his family and friends. He was so appreciative of his relationships with so many friends in Canaan and beyond.
