Oscar winners to give Dartmouth commencement address

HANOVER — Filmmakers and 1997 Dartmouth College graduates Chris Miller and Phil Lord are to be the college’s commencement speakers this year, according to Dartmouth News.

Together, the two have won an Academy Award and earned more than $3.3 billion at box offices worldwide. Their projects include titles such as: “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” “Cocaine Bear,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” and “21 and 22 Jump Street”.

They will be speaking at the June 11 graduation of the Class of 2023, which begins at 9:30 a.m.

Lord and Miller will receive honorary Doctor of Arts degrees at the ceremony.

Others scheduled to receive honorary degrees at the ceremony include: Gilda Barabino, president of Olin College of Engineering; Jennifer Carlson, associate professor in sociology and government and public policy at the University of Arizona; Andrea Hayes Dixon, professor and chairwoman of surgery at Howard University School of Medicine; and Benjamin “Ben” Wilson, an environmental litigator and former Dartmouth trustee.
