Bradford, Vt. — Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center has settled a medical malpractice lawsuit filed by the parents of a former Oxbow High School senior who died in 2014.

The amount Gary and Bethanne Tillotson, of Bradford, Vt., will receive from the hospital as a result of the settlement reached this week is confidential, their attorney Bruce Felmly said.

He declined to comment on the resolution of the case, as did a spokesman for the Lebanon-based hospital.

The hospital’s attorney, Kaveh Shahi, didn’t return a request for comment.

The Tillotsons filed suit in federal court in Concord in June 2016, about two years after their 17-year-old son, Sean Tillotson, died of a pulmonary embolism-type event while changing planes in the Denver airport en route to a leadership conference in Wyoming.

The Tillotsons allege that two D-H physicians’ review of their son’s kidney ultrasound in May 2014 was “grossly inaccurate” and led to his wrongful death some two months later.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock officials denied those allegations.

Tillotson was an Eagle Scout and an outdoors enthusiast who played football and lacrosse at Oxbow High.

An email message sent to Bethanne Tillotson wasn’t returned.
