FAIRLEE — The Selectboard seeks to fill a seat left vacant by Cathy McGrath, who stepped down on Jan. 16.

“Having retired, it is now my moment to travel and explore the country,” her resignation letter said. McGrath, who was re-elected last year, served on the three-person Selectboard for 10 years.

Chairman Lance Mills said Friday that he and Vice Chairman Peter Berger will appoint a resident to fill the open position until Town Meeting. Voters may then elect a replacement to serve the remaining two years of McGrath’s term. At least one resident has stepped forward to fill the vacancy until March, Mills said.

Nominations and voting for Selectboard positions are from the floor at Town Meeting.
