Canaan, N.H. — Ernest Andrew Crowell Jr., of Canaan, passed away in peace on Monday, Dec. 25, 2017.

He was born to Ernest Crowell and Margaret Reid in Providence, R.I. on March 2, 1952.

Ernest was an exemplary athlete in high school and college. He excelled at basketball and baseball and was selected for many special sporting events including the New England Sandlot Tournament where he played at Fenway in Boston, Mass.

He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975-1979 and received the Presidential Service Badge and Certificate.

Ernest is survived by his partner Valleri Adams; son Ernest Crowell III and wife, Jessica, of Enfield, N.H.; daughter Jessica Crowell, and partner, Keith Rice, of Dover, N.H.; brother Lawrence Crowell and partner, Cindy Higgins, of Woonsocket, R.I.; and three granddaughters: Autumn, Summer and Zoey.

There will be a celebration of life on March 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Union Church in Enfield. All friends and family are invited to attend to join in celebrating the life of “Big Ernie.”
