Town Meeting preview: Zoning changes on Enfield’s ballot

Articles of note: Voters will be asked whether they support six amendments to the town’s zoning ordinance. Another article asks whether voters support an optional property tax exemption for solar energy systems. A petitioned article asks whether voters support the creation of a town forest on 100 acres along Methodist Hill Road.

Contested races: Three people are running for two seats on the Selectboard with terms of three years: John W. Kluge, Douglas K. Smith and Tracy Young. Three people are running for two seats on the Zoning Board of Adjustment with terms of one year: Celie Aufiero, Timothy D. Lenihan and Susan Wrobleski. Four people are running for three seats on the Budget Committee: James Fickett, Timothy D. Lenihan, Nancy L. Smith and Dimitri Deserranno. 

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed budget is $8.19 million, with $165,000 to come from the unassigned fund balance. The budget is up from the $7.57 million voters approved last year. Voters also will be asked whether they support raising $527,000 for the town’s Capital Improvement Program Capital Reserve Fund.

When, where and how to vote: Enfield is scheduled to hold ballot voting on warrant articles 1-7 on Tuesday, March 14 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the Enfield Community Building, 308 U.S. Route 4. In-person voting on the remaining articles is scheduled for Saturday, March 18 at 9 a.m. at the Enfield Village School, 271 U.S. Route 4.
