Elizabeth “Betty” I. Licence

West Canaan, N.H. — Betty Licence, 89, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at home with family at her side. Betty was born April 14, 1928, a daughter of Florence Nadeau.

Betty was a lifelong resident of the Upper Valley. She worked until retirement at DHMC in housekeeping.

In her younger years she spent lots of time camping with her family. She also enjoyed fruit and berry picking.

Betty was an outstanding cook and could feed many at a time. She also was an avid bird watcher and loved feeding them. Most of all she enjoyed time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty lost her first husband, Dana Nichols, to cancer. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Elanor Ralston and Virginia Aldrich; a daughter, Deborah Licence; a son, Alvin Nichols; and a grandson, Jason Nichols.

Betty is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard Licence of West Canaan; a son, Fredrick Nichols/Mary, Ga.; a son, Madison (Matt) Nichols, West Canaan; daughter, Madeline Grace/Danny, Enfield, N.H.; son, Robert Nichols, Fla.; a son, Dana Nichols/Michele, Enfield Ctr., N.H.; a daughter, Marilyn Morey/Paul, Lebanon, N.H.; a son, Stuart Nichols, West Canaan; a daughter, Barbara Bailey/Mike, Enfield; a son, Steve Nichols, West Canaan; a son, Richard Licence Jr./Sherry, Enfield; grandchildren, Jeremy, Tommy, Danny Jr., Justin, Paul Jr., Nicole, Abbey, Heather, Levi, Brittany, Jodi, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Brook, Shelby, Dana, Jessica, Cheyenne, Wynonna, Arianna, Brooklyn, Parker.

A celebration of life will be held at the Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Feb. 24 in Enfield from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
