A variety of towns across the Upper Valley are seeking input in anticipation of a potential expansion of electric vehicle charging stations.
The city of Lebanon and the towns of Hanover and Hartford, as well as the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission, teamed up to create a digital map on which users can add desired locations for vehicle charging ports.
The map is not a permanent tool to locate charging stations. The input is intended to help with regional planning and allow the towns involved to coordinate for funding rather than compete, said Sherry Boschert, a member of the Lebanon Energy Advisory Council.
“When we launched, there were maybe 30 to 35 dots on the map that we had placed,” Boschert said. “Within 24 hours there were more than 150, including about 25 outside the boundaries of the three towns that are collaborating on this. It’s really clear that there is pent up demand for more EV chargers.”
