CHARLESTOWN — A Claremont woman injured in a Charlestown crash that left another Claremont resident dead last week was recovering in Lebanon Wednesday.

Sandra Clifford was listed in fair condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.

In a news release last Friday, Charlestown Police Chief Patrick Connors said a 63-year-old woman — whom police later identified as Clifford — had suffered serious injuries that afternoon when the Honda CRV she was driving on Route 12 was hit head-on by a Toyota SUV that had apparently crossed the center line. The driver of the Toyota, a 51-year-old later identified as Charity Dyer of Claremont, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash near Shutters Way was reported at approximately 4:40 p.m. and resulted in the highway’s closure in that area for about four hours, police said.
