Nashua, N.H. — Dorothy E. Reed, 95, died on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, in Nashua..

She was born August 20, 1922 in Randolph, Vt. to Carroll and Mildred (Spooner) Dutton of Hartford, Vt. Dorothy grew up in West Lebanon, N.H. graduating from West Lebanon High School in 1940, and Concord Business College in 1941. She worked for the State Welfare Department in Concord, N.H., Barkley and Dexter in Boston, Mass., and the Veteran’s Administration in White River Jct., Vt.

Dorothy married Wendell G. Reed of Bethel Gilead, Vt. on Oct. 8, 1946 in Lebanon, N.H. He passed away in November of 1980. She is survived by her children, Linda A. Taylor of Harrisville, N.H. and her husband, Rich, David M. Reed of Charlestown, N.H. and his wife, Brenda, Wendy J. Reed of Nashua and her husband, James, and Robin M. Reed of Plainfield, N.H. and Neal McBain and daughter-in-law, Nan Reed of West Lebanon. She is predeceased by her son Raymond A. Reed of West Lebanon. Mrs. Reed also has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several cousins including Joyce Pratt of Hudson, N.Y., and Paul and Steve Dutton of Newton, Mass. She was very proud of her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved them very much. Mr. and Mrs. Reed lived in Plainfield and Cornish, N.H. for many years. In later years, Mrs. Reed made her home with her daughter Wendy. She was very fond of various family dogs over the years and enjoyed traveling, puzzles, flower gardening, reading, and bird watching. She also enjoyed bowling and in earlier years had been the captain of her bowling team. She felt very fortunate that her family made their homes nearby and was able to attend numerous family gatherings.

Per the wishes of Mrs. Reed, there will be no funeral and a private graveside service will be held for family members and close friends on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Randolph Vermont.
