WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A 56-year-old man who pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a girl under 16-years-old will serve an additional seven months in prison.

David Anthony Kendall, of White River Junction, received a sentence of eight to 99 years during a hearing at Windsor Superior Court on Tuesday. All of the sentence is suspended except for 2½ years, meaning that Kendall, who has been incarcerated since his March 2018 arrest, will remain in prison for seven more months.

The hearing follows a deal Kendall struck in August, when he pleaded guilty to sexual assault and two counts of lewd and lascivious conduct in exchange for the sentence.

Kendall was initially charged with eight felony counts after police said he sexually assaulted the girl, who was known to him, several times between January 2016 and January 2018. Police learned about the abuse after the child came forward in March 2018, according to an affidavit written by Hartford police officer Kristinnah Adams. Kendall first denied any wrongdoing but then admitted to touching the girl inappropriately, the affidavit said.
