HANOVER — Hannah Curtin and Daisy Granholm scored their first varsity goals to give the Dartmouth College women’s soccer team a 2-1 win over Vermont at Whitey Burnham Field on Sunday.

Curtin, a freshman, and Granholm, a sophomore, both struck in the second half to give the Big Green (2-0-0) its second win of the weekend. Vermont dropped to 2-1-0 with the defeat.

As with Friday’s 3-2 win over Holy Cross, Dartmouth played to a scoreless draw in the first half with the Catamounts. The Big Green broke the deadlock with two goals in about two minutes.

Curtin received a 55th-minute through ball from junior forward Allie Winstanley and slid a shot past the Vermont keeper to get Dartmouth on the board. Winstanley, who factored in all three goals against Holy Cross, kept up the pace with another assist in the 57th minute, this one slotted home into the low left corner of the net by Granholm.

Alex West drew the Cats back a goal in the 63rd minute out of a penalty-area scramble following a free kick near the right corner flag. Dartmouth’s defense held firm from there, as goalkeeper Charlotte Cyr finished with four saves.

Dartmouth hits the road later this week. The Big Green travels to Georgetown for a Thursday afternoon contest, then moves down the road to visit George Mason on Sunday afternoon.
