BRIGHTON, Mass. — A seventh-inning comeback from a five-run deficit fell short on Wednesday as the Dartmouth College softball team dropped a 6-4 decision to Boston College at Harrington Athletics Village.

Down 6-1 with two one and two out, freshman Izzy Kam slapped a two-run triple to get Dartmouth (1-2) close. Billie McFadyen delivered Kam with an RBI double on the next pitch before BC reliever Payton Schnackenberg struck out the Big Green’s final batter to put the game away.

The Eagles (11-27) chased starting Dartmouth pitcher Maddie Agusto with a four-run third inning, building a 6-1 cushion with a two-run fifth. The Big Green managed just three hits off three BC pitchers; Mary Beth Calahan drove in Dartmouth’s only other run with a fourth-inning RBI double.

The Eagles honored Dartmouth’s lone senior, Abby Shipley, with flowers after the game. Shipley, who will have two years of eligibility as a graduate transfer, has a career .333 average over 30 games with four doubles, three homers and 13 RBIs.
