Dartmouth Roundup: Women’s lax paves over UNH

HANOVER — The 15th-ranked Dartmouth College women’s lacrosse team warmed up the steamroller on a cold Saturday and used it to flatten New Hampshire, 18-5, in a nonleague game at Scully-Fahey Field.

The Big Green (5-0) needed just 2 minutes, 40 seconds to grab a 3-0 lead on the Wildcats (1-4) and held a 12-0 lead by halftime.

Six different Big Green players hit the twine. Katie Bourque led the assault with a career-high six goals to bring her career tally to 98. Fellow senior Sophia Turchetta also had a big afternoon scoring four times with two assists, with her first goal serving as the 50th of her career.

Senior goalkeeper Kiera Vrindten had five saves. The Big Green is off until visiting Albany on Sunday.

MEN’S LACROSSEUVM 9, Dartmouth 8

BURLINGTON — The Big Green (3-1) sustained its first defeat of the season, losing a one-goal contest to the Catamounts (3-1) at Virtue Field.

Ben Martin led Dartmouth with three goals, while Matt Paul, George Prince and Tommy Rogan had two points apiece. In net, Daniel Hincks had a season-high 15 saves.

The Big Green hosts St. John’s on Saturday.


Dartmouth 72, Brown 58

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Big Green (10-17, 4-10) closed its season with a win over the Bears.

Paula Lenart led the way with a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. Annie McKenna had a team-high 15 points. Anna Luced added 14 points, and Katie Douglas contributed 11.

HANOVER — The Bears spoiled Dartmouth’s senior night at Leede Arena.

Chris Knight hit 10 of 11 shots from the floor for a team-high 20 points, but 17 turnovers ultimately doomed the Big Green.

Penn’s 85-65 win over Columbia knocked Brown out of the Ivy League tournament picture.
