Lebanon — Dartmouth-Hitchcock is hoping to expand its reach into southern New Hampshire with a $59 million expansion of its Manchester clinic.

D-H plans to build a six-room ambulatory surgery center and medical infusion space at its Wellington Road facility, according to a news release today. The new space will include a pharmacy, MRI unit and new offices, the release said.

D-H trustees approved the expansion at their quarterly meeting.

Once construction is complete, D-H also plans to renovate the building's endoscopy suite and add office space elsewhere.

“As we plan for Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s future, increasing access to care is a key strategic goal for us,” D-H CEO Joanne Conroy said in the release. “The (board of trustees') approval of this expansion in Manchester is exciting news, and will allow us to better serve the needs of our patients in southern New Hampshire.”

Ground is expected to be broken at the expansion next spring, with a design and planning approval stage to take place over the fall and winter.

Along with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system includes affiliated hospitals in Lebanon, New London, Windsor and Keene; the Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire; and 24 D-H clinics providing ambulatory services in New Hampshire and Vermont.
