Claremont, N.H. — Daniel Petter Churchill, 54, died unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday, May 3, 2018, in Cornish, N.H.

Dan was born Aug. 22, 1963, in Lebanon, N.H. a son of Nelson C. Churchill Sr. and Patricia (Cameron) Churchill. Dan moved to Florida to live with his father after his parents were divorced and later graduated from high school in Ft. Meyers, Fla. He worked construction in Florida for a time before returning to the Upper Valley where he worked at Thermal Dynamics and later delivered the Valley News.

Dan loved relaxing in the outdoors especially going on hikes and long walks as well as hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed car races at local tracks including Claremont, Canaan and Thunder Road in Barre.

He was predeceased by his mother, who was killed in the same auto accident, his father, a brother William Vespar and several uncles and aunts.

He is survived by a sister Lorinda Allen and her husband Mike of White River Jct.; brothers Nelson Clyde Churchill Jr. of Montpelier, Vt. and Robert Vespar of Tunbridge, Vt.; as well aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. A funeral service will be held Saturday May 19 at 3 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. with committal following in the Hartford Cemetery.
