Hartland, Vt. — Dana Earl Ennis, 68, a resident of Hartland, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, July 9, 2018, at his home in Hartland. He was born June 3, 1950, in Windsor, Vt. the son of Earl and Verna (Clark) Ennis.

A graduate of Windsor High School, in 1968, he learnt the basics of construction from his father, Earl and worked his way up from laborer to project management. In 1980 he started his own business Ennis Construction Inc. During the ensuing years, he worked with his brother, Al and his nephew, Jamey and they developed a reputation, of fine craftsmanship. Dana was so very proud to have built so many families homes in the Upper Valley. He rests easy knowing that Jamey will continue this family business that he lovingly built up.

He is survived by his wife Debbie of Hartland; his brother Al and sister-in-law Sandy of Cornish, N.H.; his son Jade Ennis and his wife, Annalise and their daughter Helen, all of Brownsville, Vt.; his stepdaughter Hollie-Blue Allum of DeLand, Fla.; and nephew Jamey Ennis and wife, Erica Ennis of Quechee, his nephew Shane and wife, Kim Ennis and their children Cade and Kayley of Belgrade, Maine.

He loved traveling to new and old locations with his wife and he so enjoyed spending time with his beloved granddaughter Helen in the pool, on the golf course, or just about anywhere, she always made him smile.

Dana was an avid golfer and would be disappointed the game was over before he got that elusive hole-in-one. He will particularly miss playing golf with his son Jade and his closest friends, Lang Durfee, Joe Maloney and Ed Stansfield.

And he will miss reminiscing about all things Vermont, with his friend Dennis Dillon.

A Celebration of his Life for family and friends will be held at the home he built for himself and his wife Debbie at 32 Horton Hill Road, Hartland, VT 05048 on Friday, July 20 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The family would like to invite all who wish to attend to bring smiles, anecdotes and no tears.

This is what Dana would have wanted.

The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to Dana’s family in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
