CROYDON — Voters at Town Meeting will be asked to choose two Selectboard members and approve a $517,000 general fund budget.

In one contested race, residents will have to choose between Selectboard chairman Russell Edwards and resident Brenda Williams for a three-year seat on the board. Selectboard member Ian Underwood is unopposed for a two-year seat.

The budget proposal, which is a nearly $13,000 increase from the budget that was approved last year, includes money for various town departments including $46,000 for the police department. Two of the proposed articles also mention the police department, including one that asks voters to raise and appropriate a 15% pay raise for the department.

However, Selectboard members voted to disband the one-person Croydon police department and rely entirely on services from the New Hampshire State Police department in a meeting last month.

Town Clerk Charleen Little said that by state law, all articles on the warrant will be read at the meeting. She said the articles and budget can be amended during the meeting, but “only the people of the town know how that’s going to go.”

In addition to the budget, voters will be asked to decide on a proposal to raise $78,000 for repairs on Pine Hill Road, including remixing tar and replacing culverts, and another to raise $12,500 for cemetery maintenance and repairs.

On the school side, School Board member Jody Underwood is unopposed. Residents will also vote on whether to approve a proposed $1.5 million budget, which is a $200,000 increase from the previous year’s budget.

In articles for the School District meeting, voters will decide whether to approve $5,000 for technology equipment for the Croydon Village School.

Voting for town and school officers will be by Australian ballot from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at Town Hall. The floor portion of Town Meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Town Hall, with the School Meeting to follow at 1 p.m.
