CLAREMONT — The City Council will be accepting applications until Sept. 7 for anyone interested in serving on the council following the resignation of Lucas “Rocky” Beliveau.

Beliveau, who was elected to his first two-year term on the council last November, said in his resignation letter that the demands of his business, Rocky’s Taqueria on Opera House Square, were growing and he could no longer devote the time required to serve as a councilor.

“At this time. I will be solely focusing on my restaurant to ensure we continue our growth and overcome some of the industry hardships I’m facing,” Beliveau said in his resignation letter.

The council accepted the resignation Wednesday and Mayor Dale Girard said, under the charter’s rules, the council has until Sept. 14 to appoint a successor.
