CLAREMONT — The New Hampshire Department of Transportation will begin a bridge rehabilitation project on the Route 12A bridge over the Sugar River in Claremont on Thursday, Oct. 26.

The $5.7 million project includes replacing the superstructure — including the structural steel plate girders and bridge deck — as well as road work before and after the bridge, substructure repairs and installing scour protection for piers and abutments, according to a DOT news release.

Evorks Corporation, of Tilton, N.H., is the contractor for the project, which is scheduled for completion on Sept. 19, 2025.

To allow for construction, which is weather dependent, the traffic on the bridge is scheduled to be restricted to one lane beginning Monday, Nov. 20. Traffic signals will be in place to direct alternating traffic over the bridge.

Next June, a detour will be in place for daytime traffic closures to allow for the setting of structural steel.
