NORTH HAVERHILL — A 32-year-old Claremont man has been indicted on a felony charge alleging he unlawfully took a child from her custodial parent and brought her to North Carolina in July.

Gabriel Croft allegedly took the young child “with the intent to conceal” her from Brooke Belanger, according to court documents.

A Grafton County grand jury earlier this week indicted Croft on a single count of interference with custody. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Police in North Carolina last month arrested Croft following a lengthy investigation, according to Claremont police.

Croft also is facing charges in that state. He hasn’t yet been arraigned in New Hampshire on the new indictment, though he has pleaded not guilty to preliminary charges in the case.
