CORINTH — A 25-year-old school bus driver faces a DUI charge and other offenses after the vehicle she was operating crashed in Corinth on Monday afternoon.

There were no students on board the bus at the time of the crash although the driver had been transporting students prior to the crash, police said.

The Chelsea woman was cited by Vermont State Police to appear in Orange County Superior Court on charges of DUI, negligent operation, reckless endangerment, and cruelty to a child. Police said they responded to a report at around 5 p.m. of a “minivan style school bus” that had crashed near the intersection of Chelsea Road and Eagle Hollow Road in Corinth, according to a news release issued by Vermont State Police.

“Troopers observed signs of impairment and (the driver) was later arrested for suspicion of DUI,” the news release said. She was transported to Central Vermont Hospital with minor injuries.

Police said the bus involved in the crash is owned by Pierson’s Transportation LLC, of East Corinth. Wade Pierson, owner of Pierson’s Transportation, declined to comment on Tuesday.
