CLAREMONT — A 64-year-old Charlestown woman has been charged with criminal threatening with a deadly weapon for allegedly using a gun to threaten another woman in the parking lot of Walmart in Claremont on Tuesday.

Almeda Sprinkle also has been charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct after a woman called police early Tuesday afternoon to report that she had just been threatened by a woman with a gun in the parking lot, Claremont Police said in a news release.

When police arrived, they stopped and detained Sprinkle as she was driving off the lot. But a passenger in the right front passenger seat, identified as James Reed, of Springfield, Vt., refused to comply with officers’ instructions and voluntarily leave the vehicle and had to be forcibly removed, according to police.

Reed, 69, was charged with resisting arrest or detention, police said.
