CHARLESTOWN — In ballot voting on Tuesday, voters narrowly rejected, 285-261, a petitioned town article, not recommended by the Selectboard, that would have reduced the Selectboard to three members.

Charles E. Baraly bested Garret Neill for a three-year term on the Selectboard, 286-254.

Steven A. Neill, with 236 votes, won a three-way race for a two-year term on the Selectboard, beating out Raymond J. Gosetti, 122, and Jeffrey M. Lessels, 170.

Voters approved a municipal budget of $6.66 million, including an operating budget of $5.6 million, $603,000 for the water fund and $467,000 for the sewer fund.

Voters supported an article to discontinue a portion of George Moulton Way.

On the school side, voters approved a $36.9 million budget for the Fall Mountain Regional School District.

They also approved an appropriation of $106,000 from the Charlestown Schools Capital Reserve Fund for capital improvements for Charlestown primary and middle schools.

Jamie Teague won an at-large seat on the Fall Mountain Regional School District board, beating out Mary Henry, 753-675.
