Article of note: A petition article to appoint a committee to study and make a recommendation on whether the town should adopt a town manager form of governance is among the 17 articles to be decided on Town Meeting day.

Contested races: There are three candidates running for two Planning Board seats.

Budgets and spending articles: The $6.2 million budget, which includes water and sewer budgets, represents an increase of $556,000, or nearly 10%, from the last fiscal year that ended Dec. 31, Town Administrator Jessica Dennis said. The default budget is $5.4 million.

Other appropriation requests on the warrant include $35,000 for the first-year costs of a lease-purchase of a 10-wheel truck, $5,000 for support of the Fort at #4 and $3,000 for an emergency communications improvement fund.

Dennis said if all proposed spending is approved, the estimated tax rate impact would add $170 in taxes on a property assessed at $175,000.

When, where and how to vote: Voting by Australian ballot on the Charlestown warrant will be on Tuesday, March 8, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m at the Charlestown Senior Center, 223 Old Springfield Road.
