CANAAN VILLAGE — School Street is now a one-way road throughout the year.

The street where Canaan Elementary School is located was previously only one-way during school hours, according to an announcement from the town. It could be accessed via Route 4 and Canaan Street.

As of Thursday, the new traffic pattern means School Street can be entered only from Canaan Street and vehicles must exit onto Route 4.

Town officials made the change “due to safety concerns for our residents and school children on School Street,” according to a Facebook post from the Canaan Police Department.
