WOODSVILLE — Woodsville Elementary School will be closed through Wednesday due to a high number of COVID-19 cases at the school.

There are 28 cases in the preK-3 school, which is part of the Haverhill Cooperative School District.

“This will provide the necessary time for deep cleaning and student recovery in hopes of reducing the spread of COVID in our school,” SAU 23 Superintendent Laurie Melanson wrote in a message to families and staff.

District staff will re-evaluate the number of cases on Tuesday. If cases remain high, the school will switch to remote learning for Thursday and Friday.

The Haverhill Cooperative School Board voted in December to encourage mask use in school, but not to require it, a decision condembed by school staff.
